April 2014 Newsletter

4 "Every valley shall be exalted
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough places smooth;
5 The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
And all flesh shall see it together;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
Isaiah 40:4-5 (NKJV)

It never ceases to amaze me, that we experience, in some measure, the glory of the Lord, despite the pride, arrogance, sin and vileness of the flesh. We are so wrong sometimes and there are so many things out of place in the church today. We see disorder, out-and-out sin, rebellion, pride, arrogance, wrong desires, carnality and so much more. We need not look at the world, we look at ourselves; the church of Jesus Christ, and we see these things. There are valleys of sin and mountains of pride and crooked doctrine and attitudes and yet, and yet, despite it all, HIS GLORY shines forth!

What grace! What mercy! What loving kindness of our God and Savior to show us His glory "in the land of the living"! These verses, of course, speak of a glorious future for the nation of Israel.  A day in which their hearts will turn to the Lord in sincerity and truth. A day when their pride will be abased, their sins forgiven and the literal glory of God will shine on them. Herein lies the grace and mercy and kindness of God today. That despite the fact that so many things are out of order, God sees fit to show us a measure of His glory.

If such is the case, despite the mountains and valleys and the crooked ways of the flesh, what will it be when we get over there!! Oh! What glory we will see! Oh! What glory there will be!

Camping in IruñaWe had a good camp in Iruña this last weekend. First time since they started having camp in Iruña that it did not rain! This was also a first for us in trying out our camping skills. We set up our tent beside the car and placed another tarp over both the tent and car to provide protection and privacy. All-in-all it worked fairly well, but the cold at night and the discomforts made us consider once again the need for some kind of camper. If we are to continue to travel this way for the next five or ten years we will need something more comfortable and less work. We would like these frail bodies to last as long as possible in the will of God.

The camp was attended by about 120 people on Saturday and Sunday. People from Franco, Encarnacion, Edelira and of course from Iruña. The congregation itself in Iruña is probably about 20 to 30. We had a total of 8 services. I gave a series of lessons on "Road Trip to Heaven".

Congregation in IruñaThere is to be a workers convention in Edelira in June. There is such a need for structured Bible lessons and ministerial instruction for the local pastors and workers. There is much prayer needed if this is to become a reality. We are also looking into some sort of printer or photocopier for printing study material. It has become prohibitably expensive for EGE to mail printed material. The cost of printing here is about the same as it would cost for EGE to print in the States, minus the shipping expense. It is my hope to have some material printed for the June convention. We have also exhausted our supply of Bibles.

Once again we say thank you to all who have been faithful to pray for us personally and for the work of the Lord here in South America.

In Christ,

Bro. Samuel Bogado and his family. Samuel is the pastor in Encarnacion but he is also responsible for the assembly in Iruña and several other assemblies in the area that do not have a pastor.

Makeshift bedroom for the women. Not sure how many slept in this leanto bedroom.

Some of the actual Iruña congregation sang a special. It is always hard to know who are actualy a part of the local assembly because there are so many that are visiting from other assemblies.

Bro. Pamfilo, pastor in San Juan del Parana (about 15 miles from Encarnacion), making sure the pig is well done.

Three pigs donated for the event and cooked over an open pit.

The head cook and her husband. Very sincere and fervent couple who do most of the work to make these events possible. Please pray for them and there numerous family.
